Second Semester of 2026 Announcement of Double Major Application
In accordance with Article 36, Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Academic Regulations and Articles 37 and 38, Chapter 3, Section 1, and Chapter 7, Section 2 of the Academic Operation Regulations.
For international students, entering a double major does not qualify as an extension semester; therefore, visa extension based on this is not permitted. (Double major entry is only allowed after fulfilling graduation requirements for both the primary and secondary majors (or intensive major) and passing the graduation evaluation.)
1. Application Period: March 25, 2026 (Wed) 10:00 ~ March 27, 2026 (Fri) 17:00
※ Important: The application is only considered complete after paying the application fee and submitting proof of payment. Please refer to Section 7 for details.
2. Application Method: Portal (KUPID) → Registration/Graduation → University Registration → Double Major Application
※ Proof of payment (ATM receipt or online transfer record) must be attached
※ No applications will be accepted after the deadline (complete at least 1 hour before closing due to possible system errors)
※ System errors will not be accepted as valid excuses
3. Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
a. Have completed at least 102 credits (34 credits for transfer students)
b. Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (including F grades)
c. Be enrolled in the first semester of the 2026 academic year
※ Students studying abroad through exchange programs are not eligible
※ ROTC candidates scheduled for commissioning are not eligible (per Military Personnel Management Act)
※ Students already approved for a double major cannot reapply
4. Eligible Departments
a. Departments identical or similar to the primary or second major are excluded (refer to attachment)
b. Excluded colleges/departments: College of Medicine, College of Nursing, Cyber Defense Department, College of Pharmacy, and all contract departments
c. Restricted departments: College of Education (only students who have taken courses there may apply)

5. Maximum Period of Enrollment
As of February 25, 2026, following the revision of the Academic Regulations and Academic Operation Regulations, the maximum period of enrollment has been abolished for undergraduate programs except for the College of Medicine. Therefore, students other than those affiliated with the College of Medicine are not subject to any enrollment period restrictions when pursuing a double major.
※ However, for students affiliated with the College of Medicine, Article 38 of the Academic Operation Regulations shall apply when entering a double major.
6. Selection Method
a. Humanities/Natural Sciences: Document screening + interview (International Studies includes English interview)
b. Arts/Physical Education: Document screening + interview or practical exam
※ Applicants to the School of Art & Design must specify their field (Fine Arts or Design) in the study plan
7. Application Fee
a. Payment period: March 25, 2026 (Wed) 10:00 ~ March 27, 2026 (Fri) 16:00
(Closes 1 hour earlier than application deadline)
b. Fee: 20,000 won
(Depositor name: Full name + last 3 digits of student ID, e.g., Hong Hoi115)
c. Bank account: Hana Bank 391-910009-50504 (Korea University Double Major Application Fee)
※Application is only complete after uploading proof of payment

※ Failure to pay or submit proof will result in automatic cancellation
8. Interview
a. Dates: April 13 (Mon) ~ April 15 (Wed), 2026
b. Location: To be announced
※ Each department will conduct interviews on one of the three days
※ Schedule and location will be posted after the application deadline
9. Announcement of Results
a. Date: April 30, 2026 (Thu) at 17:00 (tentative)
